PM: Flight JS152 from Beijing to Pyongyang, 13:00 departure, arrive Pyongyang 16:25, meet your Korean guides who will accompany you during your stay. En route to the hotel stop off at the Arch of Triumph - similar to the French version (but bigger) - commemorates the liberation from Japanese rule. MASS GAMES after dinner

AM:Kumsusan Memorial Palace - Mausoleum where President Kim Il Sung lies in state, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery - bronze busts of the Koreans who died fighting the Japanese occupation, Fountain Park, Mansudae Grand Monument statue of DPRK President Kim Il Sung, Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s largest square in the heart of the city
PM: Mt. Ryonggak (picnic lunch), Chollima Steel Works - New for 2012! Tae'an Heavy Machine Tool Complex, Glass Factory, Drive to Nampo (1.5 hrs),
OVERNIGHT: Hot Spa Guesthouse, Nampo

AM:West Sea Barrage (8km long dam seperateing the Taeding river from the West Sea of Korea), Mt. Kuwol, Woljong Buddhist Temple, Sinchon Town, Atrocities Museum (DPRK history records a large massacre of civilians by US troops in this area), drive to Sariwon
PM: Sariwon Folk Village, Textile Factory, Return to Pyongyang, evening funfair trip

AM: DPRK HOLIDAY - NATIONAL DAY: Old City Gates, Walk along Taedong River in the city centre, Foreign Language Bookshop - read up on what you are seeing here and buy your gifts and night time reading, Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s largest square in the heart of the city
PM: Moranbong Park, local Funfair, Golden Lane Bowling Centre  - where Pyongyangers go for their ten-pin fix, also has some early 90s arcade games, expected Mass Dance in Kim Il Sung Square
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Mon 10th Sep

AM: Mangyongdae Native House - birthplace of the DPRK founder Kim Il Sung, Mansudae Art Studio - Pyongyang’s centre of artistic excellence, Pyongyang Metro (extended ride) - the deepest in the world, take a ride with the locals, USS Pueblo - tour the American espionage ship captured in the 1968
PM: Monument to Party Foundation - commemorates the 50 years of Worker's Party rule, Juche Tower - 150m stone tower with lookout platform at the top and great panoramic views of the city. Drive to Mt. Myohyang via Ryongmun Caves (2 hrs)
OVERNIGHT: Chongchon Hotel, Mt. Myohyang

Tue 11th Sep

AM: International Friendship Exhibition - a series of enormous subterranean exhibition rooms housing gifts given to the DPRK’s leaders by foreign political figures, notable figures, politicians and organisations, Pohyon Buddhist Temple Historical holy temple that originates from 1042, Manpok Valley hike
PM: Return to Pyongyang (2 hours), Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum (Korean War Museum) - hear and see the DPRK version of the conflict, Schoolchildren’s Palace Performance
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Wed 12th Sep

AM: Drive to Kaesong (2.5 hours) - a historical city near the DMZ which avoided being destroyed in the Korean War, Panmunjom/DMZ - the demarcation line between North and South Korea, local park & pavilion, Sonjok Bridge
PM: Concrete Wall - observation post deep in the DMZ where you can view South Korean positions and see the anti-tank barrier which stretches across the peninsular, Tomb of King Kongmin - beautiful twin-domed tomb of the 31st King of the Koryo Dynasty and his Mongolian wife, Kaesong Koryo Museum - relics of the ancient city, Return to Pyongyang

Plane option
AM: Flight JS151 from Pyongyang to Beijing, 09:00 departure. arrive Beijing 10:00. End of Tour.

Train option (for non-US citizens)
AM: Train from Pyongyang departs at 10:10AM
PM: Cross border at Sinuiju/Dandong
OVERNIGHT: On train

Fri 14th Sep

AM: Train arrives Beijing 08:34AM. End of tour.

PRE-TOUR MEETING: Wednesday 5th September, 4PM, at our office in Beijing
EXPECTED WEATHER: It will be hot and and humid around this time with possible rain showers, around 20-25° C Raincoat/umbrella advised! Also, bring warmer clothes for Mt Paekdu and Chilbo as it will be colder up there.

TOUR FEE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Flight Beijing-Pyongyang, plane/train Pyongyang-Beijing
  2. All meals on the tour except on the train out of DPRK – see below
  3. Hotel accommodations in DPRK
  4. All entry fees
  5. Two guides and a driver per group
  6. All transportation in DPRK
  7. Transportation to Beijing airport prior to departure to DPRK.

NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR FEE (all payments paid in cash) :

  1. Transportation from your country to Beijing and hotel stay in Beijing
  2. Optional single room supplement of $60 per night (must be booked in advance and can be pre-paid in US with credit card)
  3. Spending money for drinks and souvenirs
  4. DPRK visa fee $75
  5. Tip for the guides (approx $30 total)
  6. Meals on the train out of DPRK - (bring your own food or eat dinner and lunch in the buffet car approximately $10 per person)
  7. Entry tickets for Mass Games (paid at the gate) Mass Games seating chart or other special events (Revolutionary opera, circus , etc).
  8. The lift up the Juche Tower $8
  9. Meals will have a complimentary beer but you will have to pay for extra drinks above those provided. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements then please inform us beforehand
