Fri 21st July - MANDATORY PRE-TOUR BRIEFING

4PM: The group assembles in our Beijing office for a pre-tour briefing, which will last approximately 1 hour and is designed so that you will get the best out of your tour.

Sat 22nd July - ARRIVAL DAY

AM: Meet together outside the office (time to be confirmed) and head to Beijing Airport T2 for our flight from Beijing to Pyongyang (1.5 hrs), the showcase capital of the DPRK
PM: Meet guides who will accompany you during your stay, Arch of Triumph – similar to the French version (but bigger) Mansudae Grand Monuments – the giant bronze statues of North Korean leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Sun 23rd July - NAMPO

AM: Pyongyang Feature Film Studios - also known as Chollywood - see the sets used in the DPRK's feature films, Mansudae Art Studio - where paintings, mosaics, statues, etc are made, Lamb BBQ lunch at Mt Ryonggak
PM: drive 40 min to West Coast city of Nampo, Kangso Mineral Water Factory - where naturally-carbonated water being bottled, Chongsan-Ri Cooperative Farm - the DPRK’s most famous farm, West Sea Barrage - 8km long dam seperateing the Taeding river from the West Sea of Korea.
OVERNIGHT: Dragon River Hot Spa Hotel, Nampo

Mon 24th July - PYONGSON CITY

AM: Drive to town of Pyongsong (40 mins drive north of Pyongyang), Pyongsong Central Square and statues, Visit to Kim Jong Suk Middle School - named after the mother of Kim Jong Il. You are welcome to chat to students in their English class. Paeksong Revolutionary Site - where Kim Il Sung University was moved to in 1952 during the Korean War
PM: Pyongsong Conservatory of Performing Arts (including performance), Drive back to Pyongyang, Paradise MicroBrewery and Bar.
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Tue 25th July - PYONGYANG CITY TOUR

AM: 3 Revolutions Exhibition - showcasing the nation’s technological, cultural and ideological progress following the Korean War. Munsu Water Park - shiny new water park in east Pyongyang, Museum of Metro Construction - almost as big the metro itself.
PM: Pyongyang Schoolchildren’s Palace tour and performance, Drive to Kaesong (2.5 hours drive south of Pyongyang)
OVERNIGHT: Minsok Folk Hotel, Kaesong

Wed 26th July - PANMUNJOM/DMZ & KAESONG

AM: Walk from the hotel though the old streets of Kaesong up to Janam Hill for views over Kaesong City. Then we take a short drive (approx 20 minutes) to Panmunjom/DMZ (where North and South Korea continues their decades old face-off), Koryo Museum (former Confucian college, shows history of the area), stamp shop.
PM: Traditional lunch in Kaesong with dog meat soup option (5 EUR), Tomb of King Kongmin, the twin-domed tomb of the 31st King of the Koryo Dynasty, Return to Pyongyang.

Thu 27th July - VICTORY DAY - PYONGYANG

AM: DPRK Holiday: Victory Day – today is the 63rd anniversary of the end of the Korean War. Kumsusan Memorial Palace of the Sun (mausoleum of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il – men should wear a shirt and tie for this visit and no jeans to be worn), Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery (bronze busts of anti-Japanese heroes), Foreign Languages Bookshop - read up on what you are seeing here and buy your gifts and night time reading , Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s largest square in the heart of the city
PM: Mangyongdae Native House (birthplace of Kim Il Sung), Circus performance (Optional), Mass Dance on Kim Il-Sung Square, Golden Lane Bowling Centre - where Pyongyangers go for their ten-pin fix, also shooting range next door where you can fire 20 rounds for $6, Drinks in Taedonggang Bar and Microbrewery No 3
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Fri 28th July - PYONGYANG CITY TOUR

PM: Grand Peoples Study House - enormous library with more than 3 mln books, Kwangbok Supermarket (where you can spend and change your money into Korean Won at the black market exchange rate), Ride 6 stations on the Pyongyang Metro - which is the deepest subway system in the world, Juche Tower - At 150m, and topped with a flickering red torch, this is the highest stone monument in the world. Party Foundation Monument – aniconic sculpture of a hammer, sickle and calligraphy brush which was constructed to celebrate 50 years of Workers’ Party rule.
PM: Tram ride around the city in some of the classic 1970s vehicles that still ply their trade on the streets of the DPRK capital. Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum (Korean War Museum) and captured spy ship USS Pueblo. Shooting Range (5 USD for 20 bullets if you want to have a go!), Kaeson Youth Funfair - the best evening entertainment in the city!, Farewell dinner at Duck BBQ restaurant
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Sat 29th July - DEPARTURE DAY

AM: The flight departs Pyongyang at 09:00 and arrives in Beijing at approx 10:00am. The train departs Pyongyang at 10:40am and arrives in Beijing at approx 08:30am next morning . End of tour.

TOUR COST: $2,290
DPRK VISA FEE: $75 (to be paid at the pre-tour meeting)
PRE-TOUR MEETING: Friday 21st July, 4PM, at our office in Beijing
EXPECTED WEATHER
: It will be very warm at this time with possible rain showers, around 25°C during the day. Raincoat/umbrella advised!

TOUR FEE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Flight Beijing-Pyongyang, plane/train Pyongyang-Beijing
  2. All meals on the tour except on the train out of DPRK – see below
  3. Hotel accommodations in DPRK
  4. All entry fees
  5. Two guides and a driver per group
  6. All transportation in DPRK
  7. Transportation to Beijing airport prior to departure to DPRK.

NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR FEE (all payments paid in cash) :

  1. Transportation from your country to Beijing and hotel stay in Beijing
  2. Travel insurance (can be purchased at the pre-tour briefing)
  3. Optional single room supplement of $60 per night (must be booked in advance and can be pre-paid in US with credit card)
  4. Spending money for drinks and souvenirs
  5. DPRK visa fee ($75)
  6. Tip for the guides (approx $7/day)
  7. Meals on the train out of DPRK - (bring your own food or eat dinner and lunch in the buffet car approx $10 per person)
  8. The lift up the Juche Tower (approx $6)
  9. Meals will have a complimentary beer but you will have to pay for extra drinks above those provided. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements then please inform us beforehand
