En route to the hotel stop off at the Arch of Triumph - similar to the French version (but bigger) - commemorates the liberation from Japanese rule. MASS GAMES after dinner OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang Fri 10th Aug AM:Grand People’s Study House, Museum of Korean Revolution, boat cruise to Mangyongdae along Taedong river PM: Pyongyang Film Studios, Drive to Mt. AM: Kumsusan Memorial Palace - Mausoleum where President Kim Il Sung lies in state, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery - bronze busts of the Koreans who died fighting the Japanese occupation, Foreign Language Bookshop, Read up on what you are seeing here and buy your gifts and night time reading
PM: Mangyongdae Native House - birthplace of the DPRK founder Kim Il Sung, Mansudae Art Studio - Pyongyang’s centre of artistic excellence, Pyongyang Metro (extended ride) - the deepest in the world, take a ride with the locals.Drive to Kaesong (2.5 hours) - A historical city near the DMZ which avoided being destroyed in the Korean War.
OVERNIGHT: Minsok Folk Hotel, Kaesong (sleep on floor in traditional Korean style)

Mon 13th Aug

AM: Panmunjom/DMZ boundary between North and South Korea, Concrete Wall, local park and pavilion
PM: Tomb of King Kongmin - Beautiful twin-domed tomb of the 31st King of the Koryo Dynasty and his Mongolian wife, local park and pavilion, Koryo Museum - preserved Confucian museum in the old part of town. Return to Pyongyang, Museum of Metro Construction (shows the efforts of the builders of the Pyongyang Metro under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung)

AM: DPRK HOLIDAY: Liberation Day – Return to Pyongyang, Fountain Park, Mansudae Grand Monument statue of DPRK President Kim Il Sung, Juche Tower - 150m stone tower with
lookout platform at the top and great panoramic views of the city, Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang's largest square in the heart of the city.
PM: Moranbong Park - where the people of Pyongyang go to enjoy their holiday, local funfair, fountain park, Golden Lane Bowling Centre - where Pyongyangers go for their ten-pin fix, also has
some early 90s arcade games, expected Mass Dance on Kim Il Sung Square

Thu 16th Aug

AM: Charter Flight to Mt. Paekdu (1 hr), Drive to Mountain and ascend to the top by funicular railway (highest peak in Korea), picnic lunch at crater lake (highest in the world)
PM:  Paekdusan Secret Camp (official birthplace of Kim Jong Il), Rimyongsu waterfalls, Samjiyon Town
OVERNIGHT: Pegaebong Hotel, Samjiyon

Fri 17th Aug

AM: Samji School, Samjiyon Grand Monument, drive to Pochonbo (site of significant battle between Korean guerilla army and Japanese forces), picnic lunch at the battle monument
PM: Return to Samjiyon for flight to Pyongyang, Paradise micro-brewery & bar
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Sat 18th Aug

Plane option
AM: Flight JS151 departure Pyongyang 09:00AM, arrival Beijing 10:00AM. End of Tour.

Train option (non-US citizens)
AM: Train from Pyongyang departs at 10:10AM
PM: Cross border at Sinuiju/Dandong
OVERNIGHT: On train
