Itinerary - Summer Exclusive Tour

Mon 24th Aug

4PM: The group assembles in the office for a pre-tour briefing, which will last approximately 1 hour and is designed so that you will get the best out of your tour.

Tue 25th August

AM: Meet together outside the office (time to be confirmed) and head to Beijing Airport T2 for our flight from Beijing to Pyongyang (1.5 hrs) (business class), the showcase capital of the DPRK
PM: Flight JS152 from Beijing to Pyongyang. 13:00 departure, Arrival to Pyongyang 16:00, meet your Korean guides who will accompany you during your stay. En route to the hotel stop off at the Arch of Triumph - similar to the French version (but bigger) - commemorates the liberation from Japanese rule, Fountain Park, Mansudae Grand Monument (giant statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il)
OVERNIGHT: Potonggang/Koryo Hotel, Pyongyang

Wed 26th Aug

AM: Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum (Korean War Museum), USS Pueblo (US spy ship captured in 1968) to meet one of the crew members who captured the ship and hear of their experiences), Pyongyang Metro (extended ride to several stations), Austrian Coffee Shop for a break and a chat with the head of Pyongyang’s only foreign law firm, lunch at the famous Ok Ryu cold noodle restaurant (considered to be the best restaurant in the DPRK),
PM: Pyongyang Feature Film Studios – the Hollywood of the DPRK, Paekdusan Architecture Institute - guided tour by a local architect with a lecture about local techniques, Juche Tower (150m stone monument allowing for stunning views over Pyongyang from the top), Taedonggang Number 3 micro-brewery - Pyongyang’s hottest new bar, dinner at Soje Guest House Restaurant
OVERNIGHT: Potonggang/Koryo Hotel, Pyongyang

Thu 27th Aug

AM: Kumsusan Memorial Palace (Mausoleum of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il), offices of Hana Electronics - a joint venture (UK-DPRK) and lunch with the Director.
PM: Mansudae Art Studio (where paintings, mosaics, statues, etc are made) to meet artist and see the process of creating statues and paintings, Mangyongdae Native House (birthplace of Kim Il Sung), Pyongyang Circus performance, Boat cruise along the Taedong river to Mangyongdae, dinner and entertainment on the cruise
OVERNIGHT: Potonggang/Koryo Hotel, Pyongyang

Fri 28th Aug

AM: Drive to Kaesong (2.5 hours) - a historical city near the DMZ which avoided being destroyed in the Korean War, Panmunjom/DMZ boundary between North and South Korea, Kaesong Embroidery Institute, lunch at Re-unification traditional restaurant
PM: Local park & pavilion, return to Pyongyang, Party Foundation Monument (sculpture of hammer, sickle and calligraphy brush commemorating 50 years of the Workers' Party rule), Pyongyang Diplomatic Club for evening entertainment and dinner
OVERNIGHT: Potonggang/Koryo Hotel, Pyongyang

Sat 29th Aug

AM: Flight JS151 from Pyongyang to Beijing (business class), 09:00 departure. arrive Beijing 10:00. End of Tour.

PRE-TOUR MEETING: Monday 24th August, 4PM, at our office in Beijing
EXPECTED WEATHER: It will be hot and humid around this time with frequent rain showers, around 25° C Raincoat/umbrella advised!

TOUR FEE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Flight Beijing-Pyongyang, plane Pyongyang-Beijing
  2. All meals
  3. Hotel accommodations in DPRK
  4. All entry fees
  5. Two guides and a driver per group
  6. All transportation in DPRK
  7. Transportation to Beijing airport prior to departure to DPRK.

NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR FEE (all payments paid in cash) :

  1. Transportation from your country to Beijing and hotel stay in Beijing
  2. Travel insurance (can be purchased at the pre-tour briefing)
  3. Optional single room supplement of $60 per night (must be booked in advance and can be pre-paid in US with credit card)
  4. Spending money for drinks and souvenirs
  5. DPRK visa fee ($75)
  6. Mass Games ticket (from $100)
  7. Tip for the guides (approx $7/day)
  8. Meals on the train out of DPRK - (bring your own food or eat dinner and lunch in the buffet car approx $10 per person)
  9. Entry tickets for special events (Revolutionary opera, circus , etc).
  10. The lift up the Juche Tower (approx $6)
  11. Meals will have a complimentary beer but you will have to pay for extra drinks above those provided. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements then please inform us beforehand
